Many Of The Hundreds Of Flu Patients Not Elderly This Year

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - The flu season is sending hundreds of Coloradans to the hospital, and unlike years past, many of the patients are not elderly.

As of last week 448 people in Colorado were hospitalized with the flu.

The most common strain is H1N1, which is the same that first appeared in the 2009 pandemic.

The Larimer County Health Department says most people born before 1957 are immune to H1N1, which is why the flu is affecting so many younger people this year.
