Man Shot At ATM & Group In Stolen SUV Arrested, Police Investigate Connection

DENVER (CBS4) - Two scenes unfolded in Denver late Wednesday night and police are working to determine the connection.

At 11:15 p.m., a man had just finished using an ATM at the TCF Bank on South Broadway at West Evans Avenue when two men approached and shot him. The victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The suspects fled in a tan SUV.

Approximately an hour later, five people inside a stolen SUV were arrested. An officer had noticed the stolen vehicle driving, but by the time he caught up it was parked and empty, and the suspects had fled on foot.

Shortly after, four men and one woman were arrested at South Zuni Street and West Exposition Avenue. The group, three adults and two minors, was found hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. Police also found a gun while arresting them.

Authorities are now trying to determine if there's a connection between the two scenes, and if the group was involved in the shooting.
