Man Sentenced To 3 Years For Vandalism Of Englewood High School
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - One man convicted of vandalizing Englewood High School last year has been sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay restitution for the damage he caused.
Anthony Meany was one of three men who severely damaged a computer lab and a band room complete with musical instruments in January 2014. The damage was estimated at $200,000.
Chad Delgadillo and Michael Tricket were each sentenced to five years probation.
The suspects entered the high school in the middle of the night, smashing windows, capturing all the vandalism on a cell phone video.
They set fire to the band room while Meany played the drums.
Police were alerted after the Englewood Fire Department received a water pressure alarm signaling that water was running at the school.
A phone was found left behind at the school with those images and video.
"It makes me sick to my stomach. That we pretty much have the pride of the Front Range here and the kids are so proud of what they have to come to school and then we have what we believe to be outsiders who have come in to do this kind of damage to our school," said Englewood Public Schools Superintendent Brian Ewert after the damage was discovered last year.
The motive for the vandalism is still not clear but alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crimes.
