Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Hatchet Attack On Wife

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A Summit County man who hit his wife in the head with a hatchet has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Michael Newcomb pleaded guilty late last year to causing injury with a deadly weapon. His wife survived but needed stitches for the injury.

According to The Summit Daily, Newcomb's wife told the judge that he was drunk and didn't mean to do it. She also asked for the minimum sentence of five years, but the judge sentenced Newcomb to 10 years in prison.

Summit County
