Man Sentenced For Seeking Child Sex In Colorado Asked Officer For Car Help

DENVER (AP) - A Pennsylvania man sentenced to 13 years in prison for driving to Colorado for sex with two children turned himself in accidentally.

Authorities say the man's car broke down in Colorado in March. Matthew Hornung, 34, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, thought he was headed to have sex with a 10-year-old and 14-year-old whose mother he'd been talking to online.

Hornung flagged a Colorado State Patrolman for help with his car. What he didn't realize was that he'd been communicating online with an undercover officer, not a mother offering to sell her two children for sex. Hornung was arrested before making the designated meeting place.

Hornung was sentenced Monday in federal court in Denver. Hornung pleaded guilty in June to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
