Man Reports Car Stolen After Vehicle Gets Stuck In River

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A driver who told authorities his car had been stolen after they discovered it trapped in a surging river behind a barricade has been accused of disregarding traffic control laws.

The vehicle was discovered partially submerged in the South Platte River in Weld County Friday night.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office had placed a barricade in the area because the overflowing river had partially washed out the bridge.

The unidentified driver later admitted that he had been driving the car and was able to get out.

Authorities say he wasn't injured.
