Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting Dog, Firing Shots During Burglary

DENVER (CBS4)- A man accused of multiple felony crimes in three separate shooting incidents has been sentenced to prison after he was captured through a new ballistics program.

Anthony Dennis pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree assault, possession of an illegal firearm and felony menacing. Dennis, 25, was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Dennis shot a homeowner's dog during a residential burglary on Jan. 27 and later the same day he fired multiple shots at a homeowner during another burglary attempt. On Jan. 29 he fired multiple rounds at a victim following a dispute.

The case was assigned to the Crime Gun Intelligence Center for a follow up investigation. The program aims to put ballistics evidence in the hands of investigators more quickly than before so investigators can see if gun crimes are linked using shell casings left behind at the scene.
