Man Killed After Getting Hit By Train In Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - A man was killed after getting struck by a train in Fort Collins early Sunday morning.

According to police, at approximately 1 a.m. officers responded to a report of a person hit by a train in the 2200 block of South College Avenue.

"The conductor observed several people sitting close to the tracks. The conductor slowed the train and sounded the train horn in an attempt to prevent a collision," police said in a statement. "The people were slow to move away from the railroad tracks and the engineers believed they had heard the train collide with something as they passed the area where the people had been seated."

After checking the tracks a man was found dead.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
