Man Killed After Being Run Over Twice By Suspected Drunk Driver

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - A man was killed after being run over twice outside of Canon City in Fremont County.

According to Nate Reid with the Colorado State Patrol, Randall Crosby, 23, of Penrose was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide, criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving and DUI in connection with the death of Nathaniel Smallwood, 23, of Canon City.

The incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday at South 4th Street and West Grand Avenue. Smallwood had gotten out of an SUV allegedly driven by Crosby.

"(Smallwood) exited the vehicle from the right rear and was ran over by the right rear of the vehicle. The driver then reversed the SUV, and he backed over the pedestrian," Reid said. "Then the vehicle fled the scene."

Crosby then was involved in a rollover crash. Police believe Crosby was driving drunk. It's not clear if Smallwood was drinking. The relationship between the two men isn't clear.

The investigation is ongoing.
