Man Involved In Fatal Lakewood Robbery Gets Life In Prison

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - A man who was involved in a fatal robbery in Lakewood has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says 23-year-old James Dominguez-Castor was sentenced Tuesday for the February 2014 slaying of 79-year-old Robert Phippen, whose body was found in his ransacked home.

Prosecutors say Phippen suffered 60 knife wounds, and his throat had been slashed.

Dominguez-Castor's co-defendant, 21-year-old Stephvon Atencio, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery. He testified during Dominguez-Castor's trial and was sentenced to 36 years in prison.
