Man Gets Probation For Stealing From Elderly

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A 57-year-old man has been sentenced to five years of probation for his role in stealing more than $100,000 from his wife's elderly parents.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says Roger Francis Tomasek, who was sentenced Monday, was convicted in August of theft, theft from an at-risk adult, identity theft and conspiracy to commit theft. His wife, Sheila Tomasek, was sentenced in October 2013 to 10 years in prison for her role in the conspiracy.

Prosecutors say Roger Tomasek obtained power of attorney for the elderly couple in March 2011. The Tomaseks are accused of using the money to pay off delinquent debts and credit accounts, to remodel their house and to fund shopping sprees and trips to Las Vegas.
