Man Gets 2 Years In Prison After Assault At Rocky Mountain National Park

DENVER (AP) - Rocky Mountain National Park officials say a 36-year-old Nebraska man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for assaulting a man who was by himself in the park.

Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said Tuesday that the 64-year-old victim, who is not being identified, was assaulted last year in June at the Upper Beaver Meadows area of the park. Park officials say the attack was random.

After the assault, rangers and an Estes Park police officer arrested Adam Harvey of Bancroft, Nebraska. He was sentenced Aug. 6 for a charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

In addition to his two-year prison sentence, Harvey will also be supervised for three years after his release.
