Man Fined $11,000 For Illegal Hunt In Grand County

GRAND COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A man in Granby has been ordered to pay $11,000 in fines and up to 50 hours of community service for his role in an illegal hunting trip.

The trip happened in Grand County in September 2014. Prosecutors say Robert Johnson trespassed onto Devil's Thumb Ranch and helped kill a bull elk.

Johnson, 55, was with his wife and three others. They were also fined for their participation in the crime.

Investigators said Johnson told his group to remove their orange hunting vests and post lookouts when they went onto private property.
