Man Dies After Altercation At Corrections Facility

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a 33-year-old man died following an altercation at a community corrections facility in Englewood.

Deputies who were called to the Arapahoe Community Treatment Center on Thursday say they encountered John Rotzin bleeding from the face and yelling incoherently as he was being restrained by staff. He went into cardiac arrest while he was being treated by paramedics and died at a hospital Saturday.

Investigators say that before deputies arrived, Rotzin came out of his room into a common area where other inmates and their families were visiting and began punching female visitors in the face. He was restrained and carried to the entryway.

Authorities have not released the cause and manner of Rotzin's death.
