Neighbors Have Fond Memories Of Victim In Castle Rock House Fire
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Firefighters say one man is dead after a house fire in Castle Rock.
The fire was reported just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday by neighbors in the 3900 block of Morning Glory Drive. Firefighters found a man inside the home but were unable to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters say the fire spread quickly throughout the home and badly damaged the interior, but it didn't spread to any neighboring houses.
Neighbors told CBS4 the flames were shooting from the windows and the back of the home was completely engulfed.
"We woke up to seeing flames from the backside of the house, which I assumed was the kitchen, but they were pretty high, reaching to the second floor and actually billowing out of the house as the wind was blowing," witness Stacy Windsor said.
The victim's name hasn't been released, but neighbors described very fond memories of the victim, including Broncos games. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The cause is under investigation.
