Police believe the victim was shot while in an SUV and was able to get out and ask for help at a nearby McDonald's.

Detectives were focusing on a white Suburban during the investigation.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, is expected to survive.

Witness Sheldon Chrysler told CBS4 he's homeless and was sleeping in his car when the shooting happened. He said he heard several shots then a crash. He believes the victim crashed after being struck.

"All of sudden I heard a 'bang bang bang bang' and heard a car crash shortly thereafter, within seconds after the shots," Chrysler said. "So I called 911 right away … and when officers made contact with me they had informed me that there was a victim that was shot."
