Man Convicted Of Kidnapping Toddler, Producing Child Porn

DENVER (AP) — A Colorado Springs man has been convicted of kidnapping a toddler in California and producing child pornography.

The Justice Department announced Friday that 31-year-old Shawn McCormack was found guilty of four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of kidnapping. He's scheduled to be sentenced July 27.

Prosecutors say McCormack stayed at a couple's Bakersfield, California home on multiple occasions and sneaked their toddler out of the house in the middle of the night several times to record his sexual abuse of the child in a nearby motel, outdoors and in his truck. McCormack then returned the toddler to the house before the parents awoke.

Prosecutors say he distributed images and videos of the abuse online.

The case was prosecuted in the Justice Department's Eastern District of California.
