Man Convicted In Wheat Ridge Stabbing Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A man convicted in connection with a stabbing in Wheat Ridge last May has been sentenced to three years in prison.

According to Pam Russell with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, James Calvin Bryant, 34, was sentenced to three years in prison for stabbing 41-year-old John Ferrara, Jr.

Russell said in a statement that on May 30, 2013, John Ferrara arrived to drop off his two children at their grandfather's house in the 3700 block of Vance Street where is ex-wife, Nicole Ferrara, also lived, but didn't expect her to be home.

"After John Ferrara walked the children to the door he returned to his car. Before he could get into his car to leave, James Bryant and Nicole Ferrara drove up, got out of their car and approached John Ferrara, yelling," Russell said. "There was a short argument and then Nicole Ferrara began hitting John Ferrara. James Bryant then began punching and stabbing John."

John Ferrara "collapsed in a pool of blood" after being stabbed in the neck, arm and torso. He survived his injuries after being transported to a hospital.

Nicole Ferrara pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and was sentenced to two years of probation.
