Man Charged In Double Homicide

DENVER (CBS4)- A man accused of killing a woman and her mother has been formally charged.

Angel Chavez, 27, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and violation of a protection order in the deaths of Maria Cordero and her mother, Raquel Cordero.

The charges allege that Chavez fatally stabbed Maria, 25, the mother of his two children and Raquel, 45 on July 22.

He then left the scene but was arrested later that day.

Chavez is on parole for a 2007 child abuse conviction and had a warrant out for his arrest for violating a protection order.

Chavez remains in custody without bond.
