Man Charged In Burglary, Auto Theft, Firing Gun At Victim

DENVER (CBS4)- A man suspected of breaking into a woman's home, stealing her car and firing shots at her has been formally charged.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey charged Marquise Jackson with first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree assault and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

The charges allege that on Monday about 2:30 a.m. Jackson broke into a home in the 7000 block of East Exposition Avenue, stole a number of household items and fired shots at the victim as he fled in the victim's car.

Jackson, 18, was arrested later that same day at a nearby apartment complex after someone reported a burglary in progress.

Jackson remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Sept. 2 to be formally advised of the charges.
