Man Charged In Attack On Gay Man

DENVER (CBS4)- The Denver District Attorney has formally charged a man accused of attacking a gay man.

Sean Boylan has been charged with third-degree assault, criminal mischief and bias-motivated crime causing injury.

The charges allege that about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 10, Boylan assaulted a 32-year-old man as he left a bar near Colfax and Washington, knocking him down and destroying his cell phone. The charges further allege that the attack was based on Boylan's perception that the victim was gay.

Boylan has been released from custody on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
