Man Burned By Flash Fire That Fully Engulfs His Work Van In Greeley

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - A man is recovering from burns after his van caught fire in Greeley Monday morning.

Fire crews battled the flames outside a home on 15th Street Lane. At one point the van's fuel tank exploded, sending burning gasoline down the driveway.

"Fire crews immediately employed flammable liquid firefighting tactics which include the use of foam products," the Greeley Fire Department said in a statement.

Firefighters doused the flames before they could spread to the house.

The man who was burned, identified as Wayne William, 44, is recovering at the hospital. He was cleaning air ducts at the home and the van contained chemicals. The generator in the van malfunctioned and William opened the fuel tank and was burned by a flash fire before the van became fully engulfed.
