Man Arrested After Strange Incident At Bank In Greeley
GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) – A man has been arrested after threatening a bank employee and demanding a predetermined amount of money.
According to Greeley police, officers responded to a robbery call at the Wells Fargo Bank in West Greely. When they arrived an employee told them that a man had come in and demanded $500 from him.
The employee told police the suspect said he knew the employee's family and made threats against them.
The employee complied with the suspect's demand and gave the suspect $500 from a teller's drawer.
"Upon arrival officers entered the parking lot from the southeast and observed a male leaning into the driver's side of a blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the south end of the parking lot. The male appeared to be changing clothes," Sgt. Susan West with Greeley police said in a statement.
Officers took the man, identified as Frank Rangel, 40, into custody without incident.
After investigating officers found that Rangel had recently been released from jail where several debits were made from his account.
"Rangel suspected his wife was responsible for draining his account," West said.
According to police, Rangel wanted his money back from the bank. The $500 was recovered from the suspect's pocket and his clothing was seized as evidence.
Rangel was taken to jail and booked on menacing charges.
