Man Arrested After Posing As DMV Employee

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- A Westminster man has been arrested after police say he posed as a Denver Motor Vehicles employee and handed out fake driver's licenses.

Michael David Hopkins was arrested Feb. 29 on charges of forgery, impersonating a public servant, gathering identity information by deception and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Hopkins, 50, is suspected of soliciting people who couldn't get a driver's license by posing as a DMV employee. Investigators say he would give them a counterfeit temporary driver's license in exchange for money.

The Colorado DMV believes there may be more victims and asks that anyone who was contacted by or used the services of Hopkins to contact the DMV hotline at 1.855.778.2368.
