Man Accused Of Killing Mother Dies Of Apparent Suicide

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A Lakewood man accused of killing his mother has died of an apparent suicide while in jail.

Sheriff's officials say 42-year-old Timothy John Baca died Tuesday after being transported to a hospital from the Jefferson County Detention Center. A guard discovered Baca lying on the floor of his cell during a walk-through.

He was housed alone, and officials say his death is being investigated as a suicide.

Baca faced charges that included first-degree murder, second-degree assault and evidence tampering in the March 2014 beating death of his 65-year-old mother, Bernice Medina.

An arrest warrant affidavit says Baca told officers his mother was possessed by demons.
