Man Accused Of Biting Police Officer While Attempting To Disarm Him

DENVER (CBS4) - A man accused of biting and attempting to disarm a Denver police officer has been formally charged.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Chase Vasic, 21, has been charged with second-degree assault, criminal attempt to disarm a peace officer, and driving under the influence.

Kimbrough said last Wednesday Vasic rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of 15th Street and Delgany Street in LoDo.

"The charges allege that Vasic became upset and combative, and tried to attack and disarm the responding officer after the officer noted evidence that Vasic had been drinking," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Vasic allegedly bit the officer on the hand during the incident.

Vasic was released on a $10,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear court on June 29 for his second advisement on the charges.
