Man Accused Of Assaulting Deputy, Stealing Police Car Appears In Court

DENVER (CBS4) - A man accused of stealing an Adams County sheriff's cruiser made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.

Bernard Martinez, 31, has a long arrest record, including assault and resisting arrest.

The Colorado State Patrol says Martinez stole the cruiser when a deputy tried to arrest him on a disturbance call Monday morning.

The chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

Martinez now faces a new round of charges, including assault on a police officer and theft.
