Man Accused In Series Of Hit & Run Crashes Formally Charged

DENVER (CBS4) – A man accused in multiple hit-and-run crashes has been formally charged.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Louis Casias, 42, has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and vehicular eluding in connection with a series of crash that occurred on March 29.

"The charges allege that Casias was driving a stolen vehicle under the influence of alcohol in the early morning hours of March 29 when he caused two crashes -- one at Colfax Avenue and Kalamath Street, and another at Speer Boulevard and Chopper Circle," Kimbrough said in a statement. "Casias was taken into custody after the vehicle he was driving hit a tree."

Casias is out on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 14 to be formally advised of the charges.

Kimbrough said he may face additional charges out of Lakewood.
