Man Accused In Attempted Home Invasion Goes Before Judge

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- The man accused of trying to kick in the front door of a home and then exchanged gunfire with the homeowner appeared before a judge on Wednesday.

Trevor Cecchettini faced the judge on charges of felony menacing and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The homeowner said a man who "wasn't making sense" tried breaking down his front door early Monday morning on East Aberdeen Avenue. He says the man started shooting at the house, so he shot back.

"I came out and a guy's just going berserk over whatever," he said. "Next thing I know he's got a gun, coming to the house, shot several rounds through the house."

Deputies found Cecchettini, hit by the homeowner's gunfire, in his car a few blocks away with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say the crime appears to be random and that the homeowner was not targeted.
