Man Accused In Assault Of At-Risk Adult, Barricade Situation Could Face Additional Charges

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A man accused of assaulting his roommate and barricading himself last week in Boulder could face additional charges.

According to police, Kelly Engel, 50, allegedly assaulted his roommate at their home and then fled.

"He returned home later that same the day and threatened to end his roommate's life and then his own," police said in a statement.

The Boulder SWAT team responded and the roommate was safely removed from the residence.

The SWAT team was then able to apprehend Engel.

Engel faces one count of felony assault on an at-risk-adult.

"Additional charges against Engel will be determined after a thorough investigation is completed," police said.
