Man Accidentally Shot At Canon City Home

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — Canon City police say a shooting that happened during what was initially reported as a home intrusion turned out to be accidental.

Investigators called to the scene Monday afternoon say the victim, an 18-year-old man, told them a masked man entered his home through a basement window and shot him during a confrontation. That prompted police to send out a notice to nearby residents to alert them that an armed suspect might be loose in the area.

Investigators later determined there was no intruder and the shooting was an accident. The man who was shot was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other details have been released.
