GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — An 83-year-old man has been arrested in the death of a deputy who was struck and killed while riding his Jefferson County Sheriff's Department motorcycle last month.

Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Baldwin was killed Jan. 26.

Prosecutors say Hosch was southbound on Colorado 93 north of Golden when he passed another vehicle but remained in the northbound lane for about 1,500 feet. Authorities say he collided head-on with Baldwin's motorcycle.

Baldwin was on duty and wearing a helmet at the time. He was a 27-year veteran of the department.

Hosch suffered minor injuries. His first court appearance is March 6.
