Maketa Sex Scandal Brought Up At Black Forest Fire News Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - An ongoing sex scandal involving El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa became a major topic during Tuesday's news conference about the Black Forest Fire.

Reporters asked about allegations that Maketa had romantic relationships with several subordinates and then promoted them.

Maketa allegedly sent a shirtless picture of himself to one of the women. He brushed aside the questions only saying the truth will come out eventually.

"As I've said, I am staying here until this investigation is completed. There's a lot of facts that are going to come out after this independent investigation is completed and I think the community deserves to hear those facts before any other judgments, executions or determinations of guilt are made," Maketa said.

The El Paso County commissioners have asked Maketa to resign and three of his top commanders have filed a complaint accusing him of abuse of power.
