Major Merger Announced Between Anheuser-Busch, Miller

DENVER (CBS4) A major deal announced in the beer industry would combine two large companies.

SABMiller, which controls Coors, has now agreed to a buyout offer from Belgium-based InBev, which already runs Anheuser-Busch.

The merge means decades of rivalry between Budweiser, Coors, and Miller would be over. The deal still needs to be approved by regulators, as some object to the potential of a monopoly.

InBev has tried to buy Miller at least four times in the recent past.

MillerCoors was formed in a joint operating agreement a few years ago, moving many upper level jobs from Colorado to Chicago.

There's no indication what this new merger might mean to local employment, but experts say it is unlikely Colorado would lose local brewing operations.
