Loveland Preps For Popular Valentine Re-Mailing Program

LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) — Loveland is getting ready to begin its 69th annual Valentine's Day re-mailing program.

Each year, people from around the world send pre-addressed, pre-stamped valentines through the northern Colorado city in order to get them stamped with the city's romantic postmark. They're then sent on to their final destinations.

Organizers announced Tuesday that volunteer cupids will start stamping cards on Feb. 2. The envelopes will also be stamped with this year's poem or "cachet" featuring an image of the western-style Dan Cupid.

U.S. mail must be in Loveland by Feb. 6 in order to arrive in time for Valentine's Day. The deadline for foreign mail is Feb. 3.
