Loveland Patient Being Evaluated For Ebola
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - A patient in Loveland is being evaluated for symptoms of Ebola after becoming ill Wednesday evening.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said Thursday morning that infectious disease specialists are conducting an Ebola test on the patient, and results should be determined later in the morning.
The unidentified patient had recently traveled to an Ebola-affected country, and was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies by a specially designed ambulance on Wednesday evening after becoming ill.
Despite being considered at low risk of infection, the patient is in an isolated area of the hospital. Public health officials remind people that Ebola is spread through direct contact with blood and other bodily fluids, not through the air, water, food, or mosquitoes.
