Lottery Sting Nets 3 Store Employees In Mesa County
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - A sting performed by the Colorado Lottery Enforcement Division found that some employees at stores in Mesa County were allegedly taking winning scratch lottery tickets, telling customers they had not won, and attempting to cash in the tickets themselves.
"There were three instances in which four individuals committed acts resulting in felony forgery and theft charges," Colorado Lottery Director of Security and Investigations Daniel Bradley said in a statement.
The sting was conducted on Oct. 12-13 at various Mesa County stores.
The suspects have been identified as Todd Stenhouse, his wife, Megan Stenhouse; Tracy Salyers and Jakob Eisenhauher.
"The results overwhelmingly showed that the sites selling lottery tickets have done an excellent job at being in compliance with the procedures they are required to follow. In all of the instances, clerks were presented with winning tickets in the amounts of either $5,000 or $10,000."
