'Lookingglass Alice' Is The Kind Of Show Critic At Large Greg Moody Lives For

DENVER (CBS4) - It's part circus, part fantasy -- and all amazing fun. Critic at Large Greg Moody reviewed "Lookingglass Alice," a show based on "Alice in Wonderland" that includes elements seen in Cirque du Soleil.

"It is unlike any 'Alice in Wonderland' you have ever seen," Moody said. "And yet somehow the madness fits perfectly with the Lewis Carroll vision of Wonderland."

Lookingglass Theater director David Catlin says of Alice, fantasy and acrobatics, comedy and physicality, music and mayhem all join into one fast-moving night of theater for the entire family.

"Lookingglass Alice is this -- I would call it a celebration of nonsense," Catlin said. "It is filled with … a lot of the characters you are familiar with -- the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the March Hare, Humpty Dumpty.

"For us it was this opportunity to combine elements of circus and elements of theater to create this story."

Moody said it's the kind of show he lives for.

"Big and wonderful and creatively staged," he said.

"Lookingglass Alice" runs through Oct. 11 in the Stage Theatre of the Performing Arts Complex in downtown Denver. For tickets and information visit denvercenter.org.
