Looking A Lot Like The Holidays At The Governor's Mansion

DENVER (CBS4)- With sparkling lights and bows of pine, it's beginning to look a lot more like the holidays at the Colorado Governor's Mansion.

On Monday, representatives of the Colorado chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers started decorating the Governor's Residence at the Boettcher Mansion at 8th Avenue and Logan Street.

There are six rooms that will be decked out in holiday decor that includes holiday traditions from around the world to go with this year's theme.

"The Governor's Residence Preservation Fund, which partners with the American Society of Interior Designers, we are decorating the house for the holidays. We've been doing this for four years now with this partnership and decorating the house according to a theme that we choose every year. Past themes have included Colorful Colorado and Colorado Lifestyles. This year's theme is Colorado's Sister Cities," said Executive Director of the Governor's Residence Preservation Fund Nicole Bopp. "The whole idea is to celebrate the cooperation and global context of the holidays, how we're all connected."

The mansion will be open for free tours on Thursdays through Sundays, Dec. 8 through Dec. 18.

The mansion was built as a private residence in 1908. It has been a home for Colorado's governors since 1960.
