Longmont Police Search For Killer In Cold Case

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Longmont are searching for a killer in a hit-and-run that left a teenager dead on New Year's Eve 2012.

Jason Grimmer, 16, died after running away from a fight that broke out on Longmont's Main Street. A car then struck him and took off.

The coroner said Grimmer died of injuries to his head, chest and abdomen. It's unclear whether the teen suffered any of those injuries before the vehicle struck him.

There are still no leads in the case and now his family is making a plea to the public for anyone with information to come forward.

Initially, another teen was arrested in the case. The charges were later dropped when it was determined her car was not involved. Her family and her pastor maintained with help from cellphone video that she was at a church event when the crash happened.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Longmont Police at (303) 651-8501.
