Longmont Man Allegedly Preyed On Young Out-Of-State Teenage Girls

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - A Longmont man was arrested on Friday night after allegedly receiving sexually explicit pictures from a 13-year-old girl in Nebraska.

Police in Longmont said Saturday they weren't aware someone nearby was soliciting young teenage girls because the alleged activity was being conducted outside Colorado. Then Nebraska authorities contacted them with enough evidence to arrest Gabriel Martinez, 59.

Martinez was in contact with at least one 13-year-old girl online, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. During the course of their exchanges Martinez allegedly convinced her to send him nude photos.

When investigators were tipped off to the activity they then had officers pose as an underage girl. Martinez continued making sexual advances. And as time went on he became hostile and made threats. That led to a warrant for his arrest.

Martinez lives at a home in the 1400 block of Tulip Street in Longmont. When he arrived home on Friday police were there waiting for him and he was arrested without incident.

Martinez is being held on a $350,000 bond and is expected to be extradited as early as next week.
