Llama Home Safe After Escape, Adventure In Boulder County

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A llama caused some drama in Boulder County late Tuesday morning when it escaped its enclosure.

Matthew Jonas of the Longmont Times captured photos at 11 a.m. of the llama near Niwot Road and Diagonal Highway. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded to the loose llama, named Ethel, and worked for over an hour to corral the animal.

Before heading home, it tried to escape back into an alfalfa field.

The sheriff's office reported that Ethel was safely back home at approximately 12:15 p.m. They thanked bystanders who built "a human fence to help corral Ethel."

The owner is happy to have the llama back as it watches over sheep.
