Lightning Strike Sparks Wildfire In Garfield County

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities believe a lightning strike caused a wildfire burning in Garfield County.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, the fire is burning along CR 320 west of Rifle between Rifle and Rulison.

"People are being asked to stay out of the area. The added traffic is hampering efforts to control and access the fire," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Some horses had to be evacuated but the fire currently isn't threatening any structures.

The size of the fire hasn't been released.
