Lightning Strike Knocks Homeowner Back 10 Feet
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Sunday's severe storms brought a lot of lightning to the Denver metro area. At one point there were 1,600 lightning strikes, and one of the bolts hit a home in Arapahoe County.
The home near South Orchard and East Buckley roads suffered damage to siding on the second story near a window. The homeowner wasn't home at the time.
In nearby Englewood at East Nassau Avenue and South Pear Street lightning split a tree and caused chain reaction damage to a home. Homeowner Dan Cronan told CBS4 a branch smashed a window and also damaged the foundation and roof of his home.
"I was standing right at the front door when evidently lightning hit the tree and it was just like a bomb went off, knocked me back about 10 feet," Cronan said. "It was all kind of a blur from there."
Large hail also caused a lot of damage in the metro area.
