Lightning Halts Seahawks-Broncos Preseason Game

DENVER (AP) — Lightning strikes in Denver forced a delay in the Seattle Seahawks' preseason game against the Broncos.

The Seahawks were lining up at their 10-yard line with a minute, 30 seconds left in the first quarter for Russell Wilson's second series when the teams were told to retreat to their locker rooms.

Officials announced a lightning strike within the eight-mile perimeter of Sports Authority Field triggered the automatic delay at 7:42 p.m. although it was actually sunny at the stadium at the time.

A minimum delay is 10 minutes followed by a requisite 10-minute warmup.

The Broncos led 7-0 following Ronnie Hillman's 1-yard TD run that capped a 14-play drive that ate up 9:09. The Broncos' longest drive in 2013 lasted 7:08.
