Lifeguards Taken To Hospital After Lightning Strike At Pool

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Several lifeguards who were around a pool in Aurora when a lightning bolt struck on Saturday afternoon had to be taken to the hospital.

The lightning strike didn't directly hit anyone but it did cause minor injuries, according to the Aurora Fire Department.

The pool is located in Del Mar Park at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Peoria Street.

One of the lifeguards who was there but did not go to the hospital told CBS4 the group was picking up around the pool and putting away chairs when the bolt struck.

That lifeguard said he felt a tingling feeling up his arm.

It appears six people were affected by the strike but only four were hospitalized.
