Lifelong Fan Who's Battled Cancer 3 Times, Served In Navy Meets Former Broncos

DENVER (CBS4) - David Ulwelling has been a Broncos season ticket holder for five decades. He's also a Navy veteran, has battled cancer three times and outlived his wife and four of his five biological children.

He is currently in hospice care with a terminal illness, and a nonprofit granted his wish to meet some former Denver Broncos.

Ulwelling had lunch with Shannon Sharpe, Ed McCaffrey and Reggie Rivers on Thursday at the Art Hotel.

"It really is pretty remarkable. He served in the Navy, he could have wanted to go back on a Navy ship again. He could've had some friends he hasn't seen in years and years that he wanted to be reunited with," said Rivers. "So for him to say that my wish is I really want to meet these former Denver Broncos is really an honor, it's really humbling."

Former Olympic skier and University of Colorado football star Jeremy Bloom's Wish of a Lifetime organization grants wishes to senior citizens.

"It was very good, I appreciated it," Ulwelling said.

When asked what they talked about, Ulwelling responded, "Football. Haha everything about football."
