Arctic Air Is Inching Into The Eastern Plains
DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado was stuck in the middle of a wind producing machine on Friday. High pressure to the southwest and a big trough of low pressure to the northeast produced hurricane force winds in the mountains and higher foothills of the Front Range.
Winds are weakening as we head into Saturday. Weaken but, not go away. You can count on windy conditions in the mountains to remain through late Saturday night.
At the same time cold Arctic air is backing into the eastern plains of the state. This will set the stage for a dramatic cool down to finish up the year.
Colder air will start to move in overnight and that could mean a little patchy fog on the northeast plains. Saturday's high in Denver may happen very early in the morning.
Expect falling temperatures over the weekend with a chance for flurries or light snow showers by Saturday night and Sunday.
