Relief From Heat Won't Last For Long

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

After a really hot Sunday where we hit 97 degrees, a weak cold front passed through on Monday and knocked us down almost 20 degrees. The front brought some wind, but nothing else. We stayed dry again on Monday.

This cool down doesn't last for long. We climb back to the upper 80s on Tuesday, and the mid to upper 90s on Wednesday.

Southwest Colorado is still dealing with the major 416 Fire. A Dense Smoke Advisory continue for the Durango, Pagosa Springs, and Purgatory areas through noon on Tuesday. Visibility is as low as 1/4 mile in some areas.

Storm chances increase heading for the weekend and we may tap into tropical moisture from Hurricane Bud in the Pacific Ocean.
