Fire Danger High With Very Gusty Winds

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

Fire danger continues to be very high this evening across all of eastern Colorado. We have a Red Flag Warning in place through 8:00 pm thanks to very gusty winds, low humidity, and warm temperatures. Any new fires that develop could spread very rapidly.

After a cooler weekend in the 70s, we popped right back into the upper 80s today. We'll cool off on Wednesday as a powerful cold front rolls through tonight. Temperatures will go down into the low 80s and upper 70s.

On Thursday, we jump back to the upper 80s. Summer will hold on strong for one more day.

Fall officially starts at 2:02 pm on Friday, and we'll certainly feel a lot more like fall by then. Temperatures will head to the upper 70s with a late chance for storms.

Then we'll drop to the upper 60s, then possibly the upper 50s by Sunday! We will be feeling much cooler around here to kick off the fall season. Time for pumpkin smelling and tasting everything, and cozy sweaters. We will see a chance for afternoon storms daily through the weekend as well.
